Documents and Formalities
Arriving Passengersare required to fill out immigration card No.6 [T.M.] from the Immigration Office. Your airline will also provide the form for you to fill before you land. Visa On Arrival Passengers without entry visas (please see “List of countries” section below) are able to obtain visas at the arrival counter. Departing PassengersPassengers must have their passports checked by an Immigration Officer. Boarding passes and completed immigration cards (No.6)[T.M.6]) must also be presented as well. Please note that foreign passengers whose passports have been stamped upon arrival are considered to have entered the Kingdom of Thailand. Customs
Departing PassengersDeparting passengers must be inspected for prohibited and restricted articles. Arriving PassengersArriving passengers are required to complete the Customs Declaration Form before going through Customs. Passengers with nothing to declare should proceed to the Green Channel (Nothing to declare) but those with articles to be declared should proceed to the Red Channel (goods to declare) with a completed Declaration Form. Failure to declare dutiable, restricted or prohibited articles will result in confiscation and the passenger will be fined four times the articles' purchase price. | |
Currency and Currency Exchange:The Thai unit of currency is the baht. 1 baht is divided into 100 satang. Notes are in denominations of 1,000 (brown), 500 (purple), 100 (red), 50 (blue), 20 (green) and 10 (brown) baht. Coins consist of 25 satang, 50 satang, 1 baht, 2 baht, 5 baht and 10 baht. Major currency bills and travellers cheques are cashed easily at hotels, tourist shops, all provincial banks, shopping centres and money changers. Travellers cheques are best changed in banks (you will need your passport). Any amount of foreign currency may be brought into the country. Visitors may take foreign currency out of Thailand, but no more than the amount stated in the customs declaration made on arrival. PurchasesIt is illegal to take or send out of Thailand restricted and/or prohibited items e.g. illegal drugs, fake notes and coins, obscene items, pornography etc. Customs will seize any of restricted/prohibited items. VAT Refund for Tourists
Since 1 June 1999, all tourists travelling to Thailand who purchase goods from stores and shops & retail outlets labelled with "VAT REFUND FOR TOURISTS" are able to receive value added tax (VAT) refunds before departing Thailand. Tourists will immediately receive cash refunds at the tax refund counter in the departure hall of the airport.
Visitors who want to claim value-added tax refunds can obtain application forms when making purchases at stores displaying the VAT Refund for Tourists logo. VAT refunds may be claimed at the airport if the total amount comes to more than 5,000 Baht. In order to claim your refund you will need to fill out form P.P.10 when you purchase your product. Tourists are eligible to receive the P.P.10 form at the time of purchase, when the total purchases come to more than 2,000 baht.
Prior to airport departure, visitors must present a completed form, plus passport information and goods purchased to customs officers. Certain luxury goods must also be shown to a revenue officer. Airport Bus
An air-conditioned airport bus service operates between Bangkok International Airport (BIA) and downtown along 4 main routes. The fare is only 100THB per person for one single journey. The service is arranged by Airports Authority of Thailand in co-operation with The Department of Land Transport & Bangkok Mass Transit Authority to offer a more convenient mode of transport to all air passengers. In addition, it will relieve traffic congestion. The four main routes on service are:

The Airport Bus can be identified by the 'AIPORT BUS' light box over the front windshield. Bus route information is displayed on the left hand side of the bus while roadside bus stop signs will be marked 'BUS STOP AIRPORT' All chauffeurs and bus hostesses have passed basic English training courses.
Airport shuttle bus
The air-conditioned airport shuttle bus operates in Bangkok International Airport (BIA) on 2 main routes free of charge. Two main routes on service are:

The taxi fare rate within Bangkok and Greater Bangkok is charged by the meter plus a 50 Baht surcharge for the driver according to the announcement of the Ministry of Transport dated 21 May B.E. 2540. In addition, if taking the tollway, passengers will have to pay the toll motor way fee themselves.
The taxi fare rate outside Greater Bangkok and up-country is fixed by BIA without the 50 Baht surcharge for the driver. Passengers should keep part 4 of the taxi ticket as evidence for any service complaint they may have.

Train Service
Don Muang Railway Station is located about 500 metres from BIA and provides a service to the city, to Hua Lumpong Railway Station where connections can be made to all parts of the country. Trains at Don Muang Railway Station run from 06.06 a.m. to 20.07 p.m. The fare to Bangkok with an Ordinary Diesel Train is 5THB/person.

Car rental
AVIS Rental Service Counter at International Passenger Terminal 1, Arrival Hall (Tel: 02 535 4052 ) and Terminal 2 (Tel: 02 535 4031-2).
Other car rental service counters are located in the Arrival Hall, Domestic Terminal (Tel: 02 535 3004-5). The rental rates are between 1,500-15,000THB /day and 9,000-20,000THB/week.
Car park
A7 – Car Park building provides 35,202 sqms. of parking space for 1356 cars. The International Passenger Terminal provides parking for over 852 cars in the basement and on the Ground and 2nd floor levels of the BIA Office Building. Furthermore, the car park at the Domestic Passenger Terminal can accommodate another 615 cars. Car parking fees are as follows:

Public telephone
Calls can be made within Bangkok and Greater Bangkok at 1 baht for the first 3 minutes while long distance calls are charged according to the destination. Credit cards, phone cards and coins are accepted. Passengers can change money into coins and purchase phone cards at the airport information counters.
Overseas calls
Overseas calls can be made at Credit Card Telephone booths or Post and Telegraph Offices in the departure and arrival lobbies. Telephone rental Arriving passengers can rent mobile phones from the Phone Rent counter in the arrival hall of The Domestic Passenger Terminal.

Photographic

Visa on arrival
An express photo service is provided for passengers who apply for an entry visa and is located at the visa on arrival office near the immigration counters at International Passenger Terminals 1 & 2. The photo service fee for 4 photos is 120THB.
Minilab
Minilab is available in the departure hall of International Passenger Terminal 1 near check-in row 1. It includes express photo service and film development. Operating hours are from 09.00 a.m. to 21.00 p.m. daily.
Greeting Sticker Printing Machine
Sticker machines are provided for the pleasure and well-wishing of departing passengers and located in the departure hall of International Passenger Terminal 1&2 and the Domestic Terminal.
Studio
Quick & Go Shop is a studio with computerised photo-printing allowing you to post yourselves in your own styles from an outrageous selection of pictures (e.g. Thai cultural scenes.). The studio is located in the departure lounge of International Passenger Terminal 2.
